When sports douchebags attack

There's a mild rumble in the always-tumultuous southwest metro of Minneapolis. No, it's not from the violent prick who tossed the Prior Lake woman into the middle of Hwy. 169 last Monday.

Nope, this time it's a high school student doing something stupid and suffering the consequences of his actions.

I found one blog dealing with the events of the particular basketball game between Shakopee and Prior Lake. His take is that tackling the jackass student was nothing more than another reactionary event in this over-reactionary post-9/11 world where everyone and everything is a threat.

I actually agree to a point with this particular take. Sure, it seems all heroic for the athletic director to take to the basketball court and tackle the kid responsible for the disruption but if you can't be the kid from the stands to basically make a mockery of the tradition of high school sports in general then I think that the terrorists have indeed won.

Given the number of kids walking into class shooting, anything on the court but ten basketball players, referees, and one basketball needs immediate attention.

I wonder what that bloggers spin would be, had that kid been yet another shooter? Blasting the A.D. for inadequate security?
