Clap, clap, clap

No, It's not the thunderous sound of applause filling a room, it's the STD that is Minnesota's claim to fame. First off, I can proudly say that I have never been the recipient of an STD of any shape or form. I'm not an idiot.

Secondly, it's nice to know that Minnesota has something so lovely as the STD named Chlamydia to tie its name to. Chlamydia is such an unthreatening name for a disease -- better fit for a flower possibly than an STD that accounts for 3/4 of the over 16,000 STD cases reported in Minnesota in 2006.

I know that the Bush administration would start up some programs encouraging abstinence until marriage rather than hand out some free condoms to those who are unmarried but sexually active. If only those 12,000 folks had been given some free condoms...
