It's alot like a cockroach

Ford Motor Company's once-venerable and groundbreaking Ford Taurus was shelved last year in favor of what is actually a decent looking automobile, the Ford 500. Apparently, that move confused the car buying public and sales of the Ford 500 tanked.

But today, Ford reversed its stance and brought back the Taurus nameplate. It is simply slapping a new name on the 500 and I can say that it's new because everything old is new. And most new things are apparently old if that whole theory holds true. While the redesign was long overdue, in hindsight, it may have been their dumbest move since rolling out the Edsel to kill off the Taurus name.

There is no doubt in my mind that this will do absolutely nothing to change the sinking fortunes of Ford Motor Company but they might as well try because it costs very little in actual production costs to stick a different badge on a car but it will do nothing for the thousands of now-unemployed workers who built Ford Rangers in St. Paul, MN for so many years.

Maybe I'll be entirely wrong and Ford will rise from the ashes like a Phoenix but I don't see that happening unless they roll out some sleek new hybrid vehicles and increase the mileage of their gas-guzzling SUV fleet.

The Ford Motor company is sinking. They are trying to save it, but me myself think it is futile. A historic company in trouble is a bad thing. Nothing last forever.

Most of Fords',GM & Chryslers' problems come from entitlements and health care costs. They will all close plants, reduce workforces and lose some of their legacy burdens to get profitable. New models will coming, as their lives will depend on them.
