What's the frequency Kenneth???

Yeah, republicans will have a heyday with this news. They'll say that he was too beligerent. They'll talk about how he reported something false this past summer.

The truth is that he is simply old. Dan Rather will step down from his CBS News anchor position in March at age 74. He hs held the posiiton for 24 years making him the longest tenured anchor of a national evening news telecast.

His career has been riddled with odd happenings, especially the one where today's title comes from. He was reportedly accosted by a lunatic on the street who screamed "What's the frequency Kenneth?" at him. It prompted the band REM to write a song with the same title.

All in all, he has had a successful and storied 24 years of fair and accurate, not to mention balanced, reporting. He is as well-trusted as either Peter Jennings or the soon-to-depart Tom Brokaw.
